Do I Have to Go to Court?

Sometimes.  Not all proceedings will require your personal attendance if you are represented by an attorney, but sometimes the judge may need to speak to you regarding a claim made by either spouse. If this happens, the judge will note on an order requesting your attendance at the next hearing in order to determine the facts of the issues.  These hearings normally take no more than ten minutes, but a substantial part of the morning may pass before your case is called.

If you represent yourself, please note that you should always be in Court, and frankly it is best practice to always appear in Court even when you are represented by an attorney.
