What are My Grounds for Divorce?

As of January 1, 2016, Illinois has abolished all for-cause divorce.  There are no longer "Grounds for Divorce."  You may file for divorce once you no longer wish to be married to the person to whom you are married.  Divorce causes such as adultery, cruelty, abandonment...etc. no longer exist.  You may file for any reason.

There are many reasons why an attorney can help clarify your rights and responsibilities when you file for divorce, and walk you through the process.
