However, ninety days residence is required in Illinois by the time of the entry of judgment. If you have a non-contested divorce, this might delay matters for a short time.
In practice, this means that nearly anyone who wants to file for divorce, who lives inside the borders of the State of Illinois, can do so when they wish.
